When did you start riding?
I started road cycling just over two years ago. I had ridden BMX bikes as a kid but hadn’t done much cycling for about 15 years until a couple of years ago.
What bike do you ride or ride the most?
I’m currently riding a Scott Foil 20.
Is there anything special about your bike?
Nothing specifically, although like most cyclists, I take better care of my bike than my car so its always cleaned and well looked after.
Have you got a favourite ride or place to ride and why?
I love climbing so enjoy riding anywhere there is mountains. I live in Brisbane so there are some great climbs in the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast Hinterlands which are pretty close to get to.I also had the chance to do a bit of cycling in Italy last year and absolutely loved it! It’s definitely on my list of places to go back to.
What is the most amazing thing you have done on a bike?
One of the best days I’ve had on the bike was a solo ride around Lake Garda in Italy last year. A pretty challenging ride but with some of the most spectacular views of the mountains and the lake.
If you were to go on a cycling adventure where would you go?
I’d definitely like to go back and do some more cycling around Italy. I’d also like to go to Spain as I’ve travelled there a few time but never had the chance to do any cycling there.
Why do you ride?
I enjoy getting out and exploring and seeing some of the amazing scenery you come across while riding. The fitness aspect is also a big positive. I also like the social aspect as I do a lot of riding with friends and cycling tends to have a pretty close community so have also made a lot of new friends through some of the groups I ride with. The post ride coffee or beer is also definitely a highlight!
How do you feel when cycling?
Depends if it’s a hard ride and i’m in the hurtlocker! If it is a more leisurely pace climbing through the mountains I enjoy just being out of the city streets on more open roads and just taking in the amazing views along the way.
Have you got a favourite view?
Definitely the views you come across at the top of a climb. My most memorable so far would be the ride around Lake Garda in Italy last year.
How do you capture the views?
I’ve always just used my iphone to take photos on my rides.
